MHI and Worley to Deliver Full-Scale Carbon Capture Facility for Heidelberg Materials UK’s Padeswood Cement Works

The Padeswood Cement Works in Flintshire, Wales, United Kingdom(Photo courtesy of Heidelberg Materials)TOKYO, Dec 8, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), together with Worley and Heidelberg Materials, has entered the execution phase of the Padeswood Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project in Flintshire, North Wales in the United Kingdom. The project will be the first in Europe to deploy MHI's proprietary Advanced KM CDR Process™ to capture around 800,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually from cement production operations at Heidelberg Materials' Padeswood plant. The CO2 will be transported via pipeline for permanent storage in depleted gas fields under Liverpool Bay, as part of the HyNet North West cluster. The news follows Heidelberg Materials' final investment decision (FID) in September 2025, made in collaboration with the UK Government under Track-1 of its CCUS cluster sequencing program. The new CCS facility is set to be operational in 2029.MHI and Worley had been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) study in 2024. In the execution phase, MHI and its regional representative MHI-EMEA via its London headquarters will provide the engineering and procurement under the Advanced KM CDR Process™ for the CO2 capture technology, together with other associated plant including compressors. Worley will deliver engineering, procurement, and construction management for the balance of plant.Cement production is responsible for around 7-8% of CO2 emissions globally. Since most of these emissions come from the chemical process (calcination), they cannot be avoided by switching to clean energy sources. This leaves CCS as the only viable option for fully decarbonized production.Tatsuto Nagayasu, Senior Vice President (CCUS) of GX (Green Transformation) Solutions at MHI, said: "We are proud to support Heidelberg Materials in realizing the UK's first full-scale carbon capture facility in the cement sector. Using our Advanced KM CDR Process™, this project will play a leading role in decarbonizing one of the most challenging industrial sectors. Together with Worley, we look forward to delivering this landmark CCS facility that will contribute to the long-term resilience of UK industry and help fulfill the country's net zero ambitions."Simon Willis, CEO at Heidelberg Materials UK, said: "This is the next major milestone in our plans to build the UK's first carbon capture facility at a cement works. We have established an excellent working relationship with Worley and MHI during the completion of the front-end engineering design (FEED) for our Padeswood project. This, along with their proven track record in delivering this type of complex facility, makes them the perfect partner to take our groundbreaking project to the next stage."Chris Ashton, Chief Executive Officer of Worley, said: "This project is a landmark for industrial decarbonisation in the UK and Europe and part of the HyNet carbon capture cluster. We're proud to be working alongside Heidelberg Materials and MHI to deliver a facility that will help transform cement production and support the UK's net zero ambitions. Our role in this project reflects our ability to enable sustainable industrial solutions and leverage our global expertise in delivery for complex energy and infrastructure projects."The Padeswood CCS project is expected to create approximately 50 new permanent jobs and secure over 200 existing roles, in addition to supporting up to 500 jobs during construction. As part of the HyNet North West cluster, the project will also contribute to building a long-term carbon management infrastructure in the UK, while enabling Heidelberg Materials to supply low-carbon cement to the construction industry.About Heidelberg MaterialsHeidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest integrated manufacturers of building materials and solutions with leading market positions in cement, aggregates, and ready-mixed concrete. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Premieres GR GT & GR GT3 JCN Newswire

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Premieres GR GT & GR GT3

Toyota City, Japan, Dec 5, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) today world premiered two new models-the GR GT and GR GT3-by publicly displaying under-development prototypes for the first time.GR GT3 (Prototype) and GR GT (Prototype)Two new, unveiled models strive to provide an ultimate driving experience by way of enhanced capabilities centered on three key elements: a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and the pursuit of aerodynamic performance. The GR GT is TGR's new flagship sports car developed as a road-legal race car that further advances TGR's philosophy of making ever-better motorsport-bred cars. The GR GT3 is a new, GR GT-based, FIA GT3-spec race car engineered for all customers who want to win races. Both unveiled models feature the active adoption of new technologies and manufacturing methods, including Toyota's first all-aluminum body frame and a 4-liter, V8 twin-turbo engine. The GR GT and GR GT3 are flagship models that embody TGR's philosophy of building ever-better motorsports-bred cars. Their development-starting with the vehicle concept formulation stage-was advanced under a one-team approach centered on TMC Chairman Akio Toyoda, aka Master Driver Morizo, in which professional drivers Tatsuya Kataoka, Hiroaki Ishiura, and Naoya Gamou, gentleman driver Daisuke Toyoda, and in-house evaluation drivers worked in unison with engineers. The GR GT is defined by a driver-first approach to development that involves listening to, understanding, and fulfilling the needs of the person behind the wheel. The GR GT3-a race car based on the GR GT-was also developed in line with this methodology.Positioned as flagships in the footsteps of the Toyota 2000GT of yesteryear and the Lexus LFA, one of the aims of the development of the GR GT and GR GT3 was to preserve and pass on "the secret sauce of car-making" to the next generation as "Toyota's Shikinen Sengu*". The two models are the result of veterans of development of the Lexus LFA transferring skills and techniques to younger members, the active adoption of new, Toyota-first technologies for enhanced vehicle performance, and the taking on of numerous unprecedented challenges.Main features3 key elementsThe GR GT was conceptualized and developed as a road-legal race car. As a manifestation of insistence on pursuing a driver-first approach, development strived to not only endow the GR GT with a high level of dynamic performance but also to achieve a sense of car-driver unity, enabling the driver to interact with the vehicle at all times. The GR GT is equipped with a hybrid system that pairs a newly developed 4.0-liter, V8 twin-turbo engine and a single electric motor. In addition to maximum system output of 650 PS or greater and maximum system torque of 850 Nm or greater (development target values) for overwhelming performance, unrelenting focus was given to the three key elements of: a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and the pursuit of aerodynamic performance.Vehicle packaging for an ultimate low center of gravityDevelopment of the GR GT, which is continuing, started with an aim to achieve a thoroughly low center of gravity by considering how to lower both overall vehicle height and the driver's position as much as possible. Attention was then paid to adopting a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive powertrain layout for ease of handling when driving the vehicle to its limit. The center of gravity of heavy components, such as the 4-liter, V8 twin-turbo engine with dry-sump lubrication, rear-mounted transaxle, and other major mechanisms, has been significantly lowered through optimized positioning. Both the driver's and car's centers of gravity have been made roughly identical by pursuing an ideal driving position aimed at enhancing the sense of car-driver unity and handling ease.Adoption of Toyota's first all-aluminum body frameAs for low weight with high rigidity, which constitutes the second key element, the GR GT features Toyota's first all-aluminum body frame. Additionally, the appropriate use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), plastic, and other materials in the body panels has resulted in a strong yet light body.Use of a reverse approach to create styling that pursues aerodynamic performanceGR GT (Prototype)Exterior styling, in pursuit of aerodynamic performance, was also born from a process distinct from that of hitherto Toyota car-making. Although attention has conventionally been turned toward aerodynamics only after finalization of exterior styling, in the case of the GR GT, the ideal aerodynamic performance was established first, followed by consideration of exterior styling. Aerodynamics engineers and exterior designers worked together to achieve styling that pursues aerodynamic and cooling performance.Interior styling, as well, was meticulously crafted without compromise, based on ergonomics aimed at achieving the optimal driving position from a professional driver's perspective and visibility needed for at-the-limit driving. Naturally, in addition to circuit driving, care has been taken to ensure suitability for everyday use.Aimed at being an FIA GT3-spec race car chosen by people who want to winGR GT3 (Prototype)The GR GT3 features the same three elements of a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and the pursuit of aerodynamic performance found in the GR GT, on which it is based. It meets the specifications of the Federation Internationale d'Automobile (FIA) GT3, which is the top category of production vehicle-based customer motorsports, and aims to be a car that is chosen by people who want to win yet be easy to drive for anyone.TGR believes that its driver-first principle, just as it is important in the GR GT, is equally important in the GT3 race car category, which can find both professional drivers and gentleman drivers behind the wheel. At the same time, in addition to heightening the competitiveness of the GR GT3 as a car, TGR is also preparing to establish an optimal support system for customers who race to help them fully enjoy motorsports. For making ever-better carsThe TGR flagship models GR GT and GR GT3 are defined not only by their adoption of new technologies but also by their having been created through the taking up of the challenge of using new development and manufacturing methods. In developing the GR GT and GR GT3, TGR employed multiple methodologies that leverage insights gained from competing in motorsports. The use of driving simulator-assisted vehicle research and development, which is now common in race car development, is an example of such. Introducing driving simulator use early in the development process enabled efficient refinement of fundamental vehicle characteristics from the outset. In addition to using simulators in the creation of each component, extensive real-world testing was done not only on test courses, such as the one at Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama, but also at circuits around the world, including Fuji Speedway and the Nürburgring, enabling verification of at-the-limit driving performance and durability. GT GR testing also took place on public roads to give the model the ability to provide exhilaration, ease of handling, and peace of mind in everyday use.Like other GR models, the GR GT and GR GT3 have been repeatedly honed, driven to failure, and repaired to make them into models that will live up to all drivers' expectations. As it accelerates its efforts to make ever-better cars, TGR is continuing development of the GR GT and GR GT3 toward launching them around 2027. Further details are to be released as they become available. For more details, please visit: https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/toyota/43622107.html Copyright 2025 JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com. Toyota City, Japan, Dec 5, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) and the Lexus brand held the world premiere today of TGR's GR GT and GR GT3 and Lexus' Lexus LFA Concept.Left: Lexus LFA Concept; Center: GR GT3 (Prototype); Right: GR GT (Prototype)Three models positioned as flagships in the manner of the Toyota 2000GT of yesteryear and the Lexus LFA make their world premiere. As an embodiment of "Toyota's Shikinen Sengu", preserving and passing on the "secret sauce of car-making" to the next generation is one aim of development. The GR GT is a new GR-brand flagship sports car that further advances the making of ever-better motorsports-bred cars. The GR GT3 is a GR GT-based, FIA GT3-spec race car for all customers who want to win races. The Lexus LFA Concept is a concept model aimed at creating a BEV sports car that exceeds customers' expectations.Development was driven by engineers responding as a top priority to the perspectives of Toyota's master driver (Morizo) and development drivers (professional drivers and a gentleman driver). The GR GT, GR GT3, and Lexus LFA Concept were born from the conviction of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Chairman Akio Toyoda, aka Master Driver Morizo, that certain car-making skills must be preserved and passed on to the next generation. The GR GT, GR GT3, and Lexus LFA Concept were born from the conviction of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Chairman Akio Toyoda, aka Master Driver Morizo, that certain car-making skills must be preserved and passed on to the next generation. Together, the three models symbolize "Toyota's Shikinen Sengu".Shikinen Sengu is a traditional Japanese shrine ritual during which a Shinto* shrine's core structures and elements are rebuilt every few decades. The ritual involves not only rebuilding the shrine itself but also recrafting its furnishings and ceremonial garments housed within. As such, it serves as a platform for artisans of a wide range of traditional Japanese crafts-including architecture, blacksmithing, and weaving-to pass on their skills to the next generation. The three unveiled models are being positioned as TMC's flagship sports cars, in the footsteps of the Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA. They embody "Toyota's Shikinen Sengu" through the making of sports cars by preserving and passing on to the next generation fundamental car-making skills and incorporating new technologies. All three are being developed together under a shared philosophy centered on three key elements: a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and the pursuit of aerodynamic performance.GR GTA new flagship pursuing overwhelming performanceThe GR GT is a new flagship sports car that further advances TGR's philosophy of making ever-better motorsports-bred cars. A diverse range of drivers, including Master Driver Morizo, professional drivers Tatsuya Kataoka, Hiroaki Ishiura, and Naoya Gamo, gentleman driver Daisuke Toyoda, and in-house evaluation drivers, was involved in its development from the concept formulation stage. All aspects of development prioritized the driver's perspective, starting with the driving position. The model is still being refined, with drivers repeatedly putting it through the "hone, drive to failure, and repair" cycle, as with other GR products.Master Driver Morizo urged the development team onward with calls of "I want you to go all out," and "I want you to push even further." In response, those involved overcame an unprecedented number of challenges across every domain, from development to manufacturing, including the adoption of Toyota-first new technologies.Centered on front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle packaging, the GR GT features a thoroughly low center of gravity and adopts Toyota's first all-aluminum body frame for low weight with high rigidity, as well as styling that gives paramount priority to aerodynamics. Its power unit is a newly developed 4-liter, V8 twin-turbo with dry-sump lubrication, and its drivetrain uses a carbon-fiber torque tube and a transaxle layout. The rear-located transaxle is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, a single electric motor, and a mechanical, limited-slip differential. The result is driving performance that is easy to handle for drivers of all skill levels and that enables drivers to fully interact with the car.GR GT3A new FIA GT3-spec race car built with a driver-first approachBased on the GR GT, the GR GT3 was engineered to compete in races worldwide. Created in accordance with FIA GT3 regulations-the top category for production-vehicle-based customer motorsports-it aims at being chosen by both professional and gentleman drivers who want to win, as well as being easy to drive for anyone behind the wheel. Its aluminum space-frame chassis, low-mount double wishbone suspension, and 4-liter, V8 twin-turbo engine are all drawn from the GR GT.Going beyond just aiming to make the GR GT3 a high-performance race car, TGR is also preparing to establish an optimal support system for customers competing in international GT3 series races.Lexus LFA Concept: Sights set on being a true BEV sports carCreated to be a true battery electric vehicle (BEV) sports car that exceeds customer expectations, the Lexus LFA Concept is a concept model that, like the GR GT and GR GT3, was developed under a one-team approach with Master Driver Morizo. It inherits and evolves the LFA's spirit, pursuing a balance of styling and driving performance. By leveraging technology and car-making skills that must be preserved, Lexus is transforming the perception that BEV sports cars are still in their infancy and is taking on the challenge of shaping the future of car-making.For details on the GR GT and GR GT3, please refer to a related press release to be issued by TGR. For details on the Lexus LFA Concept, please refer to a related press release to be issued by Lexus. TGR and Lexus intend to continue to release information on the three models concerned as it becomes available.* A Japanese indigenous religion centered on devotion to and worship of spirits or deities believed to inhabit elements of nature"Achieving zero, and adding new value beyond it"As part of efforts to pass our beautiful "Home Planet" to the next generation, Toyota has identified and is helping to solve issues faced by individuals and overall society, which Toyota calls "Achieving Zero," hoping to help reduce the negative impacts caused by these issues to people and the environment to zero. World’s First General Design Approval (GDA) for Developed Steel and Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) Exemption based on ECA for Low-pressure Liquefied CO2 Tank made of KF460 steel JCN Newswire

World’s First General Design Approval (GDA) for Developed Steel and Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) Exemption based on ECA for Low-pressure Liquefied CO2 Tank made of KF460 steel

TOKYO, Dec 5, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Mitsubishi Shipbuilding), a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, and Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel) have applied Nippon Steel's developed steel to the cargo tanks of low-pressure liquified CO2 (LCO2) carriers and have jointly developed the PWHT(*1)-exemption technology based on ECA(*2). Both companies have recently received the world's first General Design Approval (GDA)(*3) from Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) for this technology.Illustration of a Ship with Low-pressure LCO2 TanksAs part of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding's cross-industry initiatives to standardize large LCO2 carriers, both companies are collaborating to develop the steel for large LCO2 tanks and establish a PWHT-exempt manufacturing process based on ECA to achieve both economic viability and productivity. When an economical high-strength carbon-manganese steel is used in large LCO2 tank manufacturing, PWHT is generally required for tank welds as per IGC code(*4). However, heat-treatment furnaces capable of annealing large LCO2 tanks are extremely limited, and this manufacturing process has become a significant obstacle to tank enlargement and a stable supply. To address this issue, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding evaluated the integrity of tank welds through an ECA based on the steel plate properties developed by Nippon Steel. The results of ECA demonstrated the validity of manufacturing process without PWHT and received GDA.Nippon Steel developed the steel that conforms to NK standard of KF460(*5) - with high strength, excellent low-temperature toughness, and economic viability—to enable the PWHT-exemption technology for large low-pressure LCO2 tanks developed by Mitsubishi Shipbuilding. The acquisition of this GDA represents a remarkable breakthrough achieved by the technical cooperation between the two companies, and it will contribute greatly to reducing LCO2 transportation costs by ensuring the safety of low-pressure LCO2 tanks while delivering both economic viability and productivity. Mitsubishi Shipbuilding and Nippon Steel will build on this joint success and work with supply-chain partners involved in LCO2 tank manufacturing to commercialize the developed steel and low-pressure LCO2 tanks.MHI Group is currently pursuing strategic measures to strengthen its business for the energy transition. In conjunction with this initiative, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding is making efforts to contribute to the advancement of the maritime industries in Japan and around the world by utilizing its shipbuilding-based marine engineering technologies in addition to conventional shipbuilding. The development of this low-pressure LCO2 tank technology is one example of these efforts. Collaboration with Nippon Steel also demonstrates MHI Group's commitment to partnerships. Moving forward, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding will continue to build strategic global partnerships both to incorporate external expertise and actively advance the development of a CCUS value chain. Through these efforts, the company aims to provide its technologies, products and services to ever more customers.Nippon Steel has set out the Nippon Steel Carbon Neutral Vision 2050 to support the aim of realizing a carbon neutral society in 2050. In addition to reducing CO2 emissions in its own manufacturing processes, by delivering advanced products and solution technologies under the NSCarbolex™ Solution(*6) brand, it also aims to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in society. The developed steel among this joint development project with Mitsubishi Shipbuilding corresponds to the Thermo-Mechanical Control Process (TMCP) steel of NSCarbolex Solution, enhances the economic performance of entire CCUS value chains, and makes a significant contribution to their realization. CO2 reduction is an urgent issue across all industries, and Nippon Steel will continue to advance products and solution technologies to support its customers' decarbonization and competitiveness, contributing to the realization of a carbon neutral society.GDA Certification(*1) In post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), welded structural materials are reheated to a specified temperature and held at that temperature for a defined period. This process aims to relieve residual stress generated during welding and improve the quality of welding joints. PWHT is generally performed in a dedicated furnace. When the products are of large size, furnace size may cause bottlenecks in the manufacturing process.(*2) Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) is an evaluation method that uses assumed micro initial defects in the welds and the estimated stress history together with material and welding properties, to confirm that no major failures will occur in the welds during the product's service life.(*3) General Design Approval (GDA) indicates that a certification body has reviewed design documents equivalent to a product's final documents and confirmed that the subject equipment meets technical requirements and relevant safety standards. In this case, the review was conducted based on the IGC Code and ClassNK classification rules applicable to ships transporting liquefied gases in bulk.(*4) IGC Code (The International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk) is an international regulation stipulating conditions to ensure the safety of vessels that transport liquefied gases (LCO2, LNG, etc.) in bulk.(*5) KF460 steel is a carbon-manganese steel with excellent low-temperature properties, as specified under ClassNK classification rules for ships. According to the rules, these high-tensile strength rolled steel plates must have a yield strength of at least 460N/mm2 and a tensile strength of at least 540N/mm2.(*6) NSCarbolex Solution is a Nippon Steel brand encompassing advanced products and solution technologies that contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in society. Eisai Presents New Data on the Continued and Expanding Benefit of LEQEMBI(R) (lecanemab-irmb) Maintenance Treatment in Early Alzheimer’s Disease at CTAD 2025

TOKYO and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec 4, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Eisai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, CEO: Haruo Naito, "Eisai") and Biogen Inc. (Nasdaq: BIIB, Corporate headquarters: Cambridge, Massachusetts, CEO: Christopher A. Viehbacher, "Biogen") announced today that the latest findings on time savings with continued treatment with humanized anti-soluble aggregated amyloid-beta (Aβ) monoclonal antibody lecanemab (generic name, U.S. brand name LEQEMBI®) were presented at the 18th Clinical Trials on Alzheimer's Disease (CTAD) Conference. Additionally, a scientific symposium was held on the subcutaneous formulation (SC-AI), which was approved for maintenance treatment in the United States in August 2025, and the rolling supplemental Biologics License Application (sBLA) for initiation treatment was completed in November 2025. The application for a subcutaneous injectable formulation in Japan was submitted in November 2025.Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive, relentless disease with Aβ and tau as hallmarks, that is caused by a continuous underlying neurotoxic process driven by protofibrils* (PF) that begins before amyloid plaque removal and continues afterward.1,2,3 Only LEQEMBI fights AD in two ways - targeting both PF and amyloid plaque, which can impact tau downstream. Estimating the 10-Year Time-Savings Benefits of Lecanemab Treatment (Presentation: December 3, 2:40 PM PT)This analysis used data from the Clarity AD open-label extension (OLE) and 16 clinical studies of monoclonal antibodies for AD to estimate long-term AD progression over 10 years and the slowing effect of continued lecanemab treatment. The analysis evaluated estimated "time savings" (slowing of disease progression) compared to natural decline based on ADNI** (Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative) data (untreated group), using Clinical Dementia Rating - Sum of Boxes (CDR-SB). These results suggest that early initiation and long-term lecanemab treatment may continue to slow AD progression and help maintain cognitive function over a longer period.Findings from each group:Time Savings from Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) Due to AD to Mild ADThe time to progression from MCI due to AD to mild AD was 7.2 years in the untreated group, whereas with continued LEQEMBI treatment to the onset of moderate AD, progression to mild AD took 9.7 years, indicating a time savings of 2.5 years. In the low-amyloid group (patients who started treatment at an early stage: amyloid PET

Eisai Presents New Data on Anti-Tau Antibody Etalanetug (E2814) at CTAD 2025

TOKYO, Dec 2, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Eisai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, CEO: Haruo Naito) today announced that new data on anti-tau antibody etalanetug (development code: E2814) was presented at the 18th Clinical Trials on Alzheimer’s Disease Conference (CTAD). Etalanetug is designed to bind to the microtubule-binding region (MTBR) of tau protein and prevent the seeding and propagation of tau pathology.Anti-tau therapeutic antibody, etalanetug, reduces the novel biomarker plasma eMTBR-tau243 in patients with DIAD (Presentation: December 1, 4:35 PM PT)This presentation is based on the Phase Ib/II study (E2814-103) conducted in individuals (n=7) with dominantly inherited Alzheimer’s disease (DIAD)*. In this study, as previously reported, tau aggregates in the brains of individuals (n=3) were measured using tau PET, and the results showed that the observed tau PET signals were stabilized or trended toward decrease following administration of etalanetug, suggesting that etalanetug inhibited tau propagation and suppressed or reduced the accumulation of tau aggregates in brains.1The study evaluated eMTBR-tau243 as a specific biomarker of tau pathology progression and measured changes in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma.MTBR-tau243 is a CSF biomarker correlated with tau pathology, and eMTBR-tau243** has also been developed as a highly sensitive biomarker in plasma.eMTBR-tau243 is a novel fluid biomarker consisting of tau fragments that include tau protein amino acid residue 243 and MTBR, with endogenous cleavage at the C-terminal side of residue 256. It is thought to arise during the formation of neurofibrillary tangles, a key pathological feature of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and a strong correlation has been shown between tau PET and eMTBR-tau243 in both plasma and CSF.2 By using eMTBR-tau243, it becomes possible to easily measure changes in tau pathology using a blood test.Study results show that etalanetug reduced CSF eMTBR-tau243 by 62% at 3 months and by 89% at 9 months. Similarly, plasma eMTBR-tau243 was reduced by 78% at 3 months and over 90% at 9 months. These findings support etalanetug’s mechanism of action to inhibit tau seeding and spreading in the brain and encourage further studies to determine its clinical potential as a disease-modifying therapy for AD.Currently, etalanetug is being evaluated in two ongoing clinical studies: the Tau NexGen Phase II/III trial in DIAD, conducted under the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Trials Unit (DIAN-TU) and led by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, added to a standard-of-care anti-Ab protofibril antibody lecanemab (brand name: LEQEMBI), and the Phase II Study 202, a global randomized trial in individuals with early sporadic AD, also assessing etalanetug added to lecanemab as the standard of care.Media Inquiries:Public Relations Department,Eisai Co., Ltd.+81-(0)3-3817-5120Eisai Inc (U.S.)Libby Holman+ 1-201-753-1945Libby_Holman@eisai.com* DIAD: Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer’s disease (DIAD) is a rare form of AD that causes memory loss and dementia in individuals - typically while they are in their 30s to 50s. The disease affects less than 1% of the total population of people with Alzheimer’s disease.** eMTBR-tau243 is a novel fluid biomarker consisting of tau fragments that include tau protein amino acid residue 243 and MTBR, with endogenous cleavage at the C-terminal side of residue 256. NEC Launches AI Agent Service in Japan to Automate Procurement Negotiations Using AI JCN Newswire

NEC Launches AI Agent Service in Japan to Automate Procurement Negotiations Using AI

TOKYO, Dec 2, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) will begin offering its "NEC AI Agent Service for Procurement Negotiations" in Japan starting this December. This service utilizes NEC's proprietary AI technology, "Automated Negotiation AI," to autonomously generate optimal transaction terms for procurement operations in the manufacturing industry and to negotiate with suppliers. This service automates complex delivery date and quantity adjustment negotiations in manufacturing, drastically reducing the time spent on transaction negotiations. It enables rapid response to demand fluctuations and significantly improves operational efficiency.NEC conducted a proof-of-concept (POC) at an NEC Group company in November 2024, successfully automating delivery date and quantity adjustments with suppliers for the procurement of approximately 1,300 parts. In this proof-of-concept, the "automated agreement rate"—the percentage of agreements reached solely by AI without procurement personnel intervention—reached 95%. Negotiations concluded under optimal conditions for both the supplier and NEC. This confirmed that the adjustment time from negotiation initiation to completion, which previously took several hours to days, could be reduced to just approximately 80 seconds, achieving a significant improvement in operational efficiency. In recent years, negotiations among stakeholders in the manufacturing industry have become increasingly complex due to diversifying demand and the extensive supply chains spanning from raw material procurement to final product delivery. Amid demands for shortening overall supply chain lead times and adapting to high-mix, low-volume production, procurement operations must address risks in a VUCA environment, making efficiency and speed through digital transformation (DX) advancement an urgent priority. However, many companies lack the capacity to swiftly optimize production systems and procurement plans in response to unexpected fluctuations in demand, hindered by factors such as labor shortages, overly personalized work processes, and cost pressures. Particularly, adjusting delivery dates and quantities for parts and raw materials is a critical task directly linked to production planning and potentially leading to lost sales opportunities. Yet, due to its complexity and the time required for negotiations, many items face the challenge of insufficient coordination.NEC developed Automated Negotiation AI to address these challenges, leveraging its proprietary AI technology cultivated through years of research. This technology enables systems to autonomously negotiate with business partners without human intervention, supporting the formation of optimal agreements. This allows for the coordination of procurement timing even for vast numbers of items that were previously unmanageable manually. By curbing excess inventory, preventing stockouts, and avoiding delivery delays, it creates a supply chain resilient to demand fluctuations. Through this service, NEC resolves challenges in increasingly complex supply chains and contributes to enhancing customer competitiveness.Overview of Automated Negotiation AIAutomated Negotiation AI is NEC's proprietary AI technology that adjusts and negotiates on behalf of humans for various coordination tasks traditionally performed by people. It automatically derives essential and desirable conditions for coordination and proposes optimal, mutually acceptable terms. It is designed not only for coordination and negotiation between AI and humans but also for coordination and negotiation between AI systems themselves.Strengths of NEC’s Automated Negotiation AI1. Proprietary Advanced Technology and an Overwhelming Intellectual Property PortfolioNEC's Automated Negotiation AI is proprietary technology enabling optimal agreement formation. It boasts the industry's largest portfolio with 28 related patent applications (as of February 2025).2. Leading Domestic Market Adoption InitiativesNEC is vigorously promoting the automation and adoption of negotiation tasks in Japan through the establishment of the "Autonomous Negotiation SCM Consortium." Beyond merely providing technology, NEC contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of Japanese manufacturing by driving DX across the entire industry.3. Global Trustworthiness Leading International StandardizationNEC's automated negotiation AI technology has been adopted as an international standard for E-Negotiation (*1) by the United Nations' standardization body (UN/CEFACT). It enables smooth collaboration and consensus-building compliant with international standards even in negotiations with international partners, contributing to the optimization of global supply chains.Key Features of This Service1. Automation and Efficiency for Massive Negotiation Workloads Difficult to Handle ManuallyIt automatically detects orders requiring delivery date and quantity adjustments to optimize inventory from all incoming orders and generates negotiation proposals. By presenting these proposals to business partners via AI agents and executing interactive negotiations, it significantly reduces the massive manual adjustment workload.2. Optimization of the Entire Supply Chain and Avoidance of Lost OpportunitiesThe automated negotiation AI calculates optimal negotiation proposals based on transaction data, supporting mutually beneficial agreements. This prevents stockouts and delivery delays, reducing lost sales opportunities. It also helps curb excess inventory, achieving overall supply chain cost optimization while enhancing flexibility and stability.3. Supporting Strategic Procurement OperationsBy automating routine negotiation tasks, procurement personnel can focus on strategic activities such as developing advanced supplier strategies, risk management, and sourcing new suppliers. This contributes to increased productivity and value creation across the entire procurement department.4. Seamless Integration with Existing SystemsIntegration with various existing systems, such as ERP, enables a one-stop procurement process through DX. This allows for smooth implementation and operation while minimizing the burden of system renewal.(*1) https://uncefact.unece.org/spaces/uncefactpublic/pages/65667327/E+NegotiationAbout Automated Negotiation AIhttps://www.nec.com/en/global/solutions/ai/analyze/negotiationai.htmlAbout NECThe NEC Group leverages technology to create social value and promote a more sustainable world where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential. Fujitsu develops new technology to support human-robot collaboration JCN Newswire

Fujitsu develops new technology to support human-robot collaboration

KAWASAKI, Japan, Dec 2, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Fujitsu today announced the development of a new technology to make collaboration between robots and humans easier, safer and more efficient. The spatial world model technology makes it possible for AI to predict the future behaviors and states of different actors and objects within a space, and facilitates smooth collaboration between humans and robots, as well as optimal coordination among robots. This new development comes as part of Fujitsu’s broader research and development efforts in the field of physical AI.The spatial world model technology will be showcased at CES2026, held in Las Vegas from January 6 to January 9, 2026. Fujitsu also plans to conduct technical demonstrations at its headquarters during fiscal year 2026.Spatial World Model Technology Features1. Construction of a spatial world model using 3D scene graphs focusing on human, robot, and object interactionsIn physical environments, the spatial situation changes dynamically as actors within the space (i.e., people, robots, etc.) move and act. While technologies that use capturing data from cameras to understand these spatial dynamics have been explored, significant differences in the range captured by each camera and variations in appearance (such as distortion) between fixed and mobile cameras has made it difficult to achieve this in real time. Therefore, instead of pixel-level integration, which is highly susceptible to differences in appearance, Fujitsu developed a technology that uses cameras to assess the space using 3D scene graphs, i.e., hierarchical data structures that organize all objects in the physical space as points on a graph. This approach minimizes the impact of field of view and distortion, enabling real-time understanding of complex, dynamically changing real-world spaces.2. Prediction of future states/behaviors by modeling the interactions of people, robots, and objectsFor humans and robots to be able to work together smoothly, robots have to be able to understand the intentions behind human actions and predict how they will behave in the future. World model technologies that enable robots to predict changes and act in their immediate surroundings are being widely researched, but so far they have been limited to modeling only the immediate environment and have not yet been able to grasp the dynamic changes throughout an entire space.Fujitsu’s newly developed method accurately estimates behavioral intentions by interpreting causal relationships from the diverse interactions between actors and objects in a space. By using this data to predict future actions, the technology can help to avoid collisions and generate optimal cooperative action plans for multiple autonomous robots. In academic public benchmark data tests, it was confirmed that this technology can improve the accuracy of estimating behavioral intentions by 3x [1]. Figure: Diagram of the spatial world model technology. BackgroundAI technology, which has primarily developed in digital spaces, is now being applied to real world scenarios. “Physical AI” is a field of AI technology where AI is trained to understand physical laws and act autonomously and it will play a key role in solving various real-world challenges, such as in autonomous driving and smart factories. It is attracting significant attention as a potential means of helping with Japan’s worsening labor shortage and improving industrial productivity. However, current physical AI applications are mainly limited to structured environments with defined pathways like manufacturing sites or logistics warehouses. In residential homes and offices, where human movements are less predictable and object arrangements frequently change, it is difficult to for AI to assess spatial dynamics, making current solutions impractical. Furthermore, in environments where large numbers of people and robots must work together, cooperation is currently difficult because the AI cannot understand the intentions behind others' movements. This new technology is based on Fujitsu’s Computer Vision technology, primarily used for human flow analysis in commercial facilities and abnormal behavior detection in crime prevention, as well as its digital AI technology, including the Fujitsu Kozuchi AI Agent which autonomously carries out tasks with human counterparts. It is part of the research efforts of the Spatial Robotics Research Center which Fujitsu established in April 2025 to step up its research toward realizing a new society where humans and robots coexist.[1] JRDB-Social:A benchmark for estimating human behavior and intentions from camera footage.Fujitsu's Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015 represent a set of common goals to be achieved worldwide by 2030.Fujitsu's purpose - "to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation" - is a promise to contribute to the vision of a better future empowered by the SDGs.About FujitsuFujitsu's purpose is to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation. Fujitsu achieves high-precision, long-duration molecular dynamics simulation for all-solid-state battery interphases with over 100,000 atoms

KAWASAKI, Japan, Dec 1, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Fujitsu today announced the successful development of a technology for molecular dynamics (MD) simulation that enables atomic-level structural analysis of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) [1] formation process in all-solid-state batteries. This process, previously difficult to analyze, significantly impacts battery performance. Fujitsu achieved this breakthrough by developing a neural network potential (NNP) [2] training method using knowledge distillation [3], enabling stable, long-duration MD simulations. The newly developed technology can now rapidly and accurately reproduce the behavior of all-solid-state battery electrolyte membrane and electrode interface structures [4] with over 100,000 atoms for 10 nanoseconds, requiring only one week of computation. The innovative nature of this technology has been recognized with the Electric Science and Technology Promotion Award for 2025 from The Promotion Foundation of Electrical Science and Engineering, which was awarded on November 25, 2025.By linking these technologies, Fujitsu aims to establish a new materials development workflow that accelerates materials development through AI and create new materials together with its customers.Fujitsu will add this technology into its materials chemistry calculation platform SCIGRESS and begin providing it to customers by March 2026.OverviewFujitsu developed a knowledge distillation technique (Figure 1) to precisely train NNPs with a faster multi-layer perceptron (MLP) [7] architecture. This is achieved by transferring knowledge from computationally slower, but knowledge-rich, GNN-based published NNPs. This approach allows MLP-based NNPs to leverage extensive published NNP knowledge and specialized material structure insights, enabling stable, high-speed, long-duration MD simulations for large-scale systems exceeding 100,000 atoms.Figure 1: Outline of the new technologyResultsWhen applied to a next-generation all-solid-state battery interface (127,296 atoms), Fujitsu confirmed stable, 10-nanosecond MD simulations in approximately one week (Figure 2(b)). This enabled structural analysis of the SEI, critical for battery performance and previously unachievable with existing MD simulations. SEI defines the charge-discharge cycle life and safety of all-solid-state batteries, and understanding its atomic-level formation and stability is crucial. This technology is expected to accelerate the development of a method to control SEI formation by elucidating its previously unknown atomic-level processes.Figure 2: NNP-MD simulation results for all-solid-state battery electrolyte membrane and anode interface system; (a) Example with 1,344 atoms: high-speed calculation achieved without interface structure collapse by applying the developed technology; (b) Example with 127,296 atoms: Stable 10-nanosecond MD simulation of over 100,000 atoms realized in one weekBackgroundNNP-based MD simulations have recently gained traction for rapidly and accurately simulating material properties at the atomic level. Published NNPs, trained on millions of diverse material data points, are increasingly utilized. However, material structure collapse during simulation has been an ongoing key challenge with published NNP-based MD simulations, especially for complex materials like all-solid-state batteries. Furthermore, many published NNPs, trained on extensive datasets, employ graph neural networks (GNNs) [6]. While expressive, GNNs are computationally slow, taking over a year for long-duration simulations of large-scale systems exceeding 100,000 atoms, rendering them impractical. This new technology attempts to address these challenges.[1] Solid electrolyte interphase (SEI):A very thin passive layer formed at the interface between the electrode and solid electrolyte in all-solid-state batteries. It is formed by the initial reaction between the electrode and electrolyte and the deposition of decomposition products during charge-discharge cycles. It requires high lithium-ion conductivity and electronic insulation. It significantly affects the charge-discharge cycle life and safety of batteries.[2] Neural network potential (NNP):A model that constructs a function (potential) representing interatomic interactions using a neural network, a type of machine learning. By learning high-precision calculation results from first-principles calculations (e.g., DFT), it can calculate atomic energies and forces for large atomic systems with accuracy close to first-principles calculations, but at a much higher speed.[3] Knowledge distillation:A model training technique in machine learning. It transfers knowledge from a large, complex model (teacher model) to a more compact and faster model (student model). By learning the output (soft targets) of the teacher model, the student model can improve computational efficiency while maintaining the teacher model's performance.[4] Interface structure:In physics and chemistry, this refers to the arrangement of atoms and molecules, electronic states, and interactions in the boundary region where two different phases (e.g., solid and solid, liquid and solid) meet. In batteries, it refers to the microscopic structure of the region where the electrode and electrolyte are in contact.[5] Graph neural network (GNN):A neural network that directly processes graph-structured data (composed of nodes and edges). It learns node features and edge relationships, demonstrating high expressiveness in analyzing data with graph structures, such as materials and molecules.[6] Multi-layer perceptron (MLP):One of the most basic neural network structures. It consists of an input layer, hidden layers, and an output layer, where each layer combines the outputs of the previous layer and propagates them to the next.Fujitsu's Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015 represent a set of common goals to be achieved worldwide by 2030.Fujitsu’s purpose - "to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation" - is a promise to contribute to the vision of a better future empowered by the SDGs.About FujitsuFujitsu's purpose is to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation. Fujitsu develops multi-AI agent collaboration technology to optimize supply chains, launches joint trials

KAWASAKI, Japan, Dec 1, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Fujitsu Limited today announced the development of a multi-AI agent collaboration technology that enables secure collaboration and swift response to changing circumstances among AI agents from different companies and vendors within a supply chain. Leveraging this technology, Fujitsu will start field trials in January 2026 to optimize the supply chain of Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in collaboration with the Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo). This innovation not only streamlines daily supply chain operations but also facilitates rapid recovery during emergencies like sudden demand shifts or disasters. In addition, Fujitsu will contribute to the new industry promotion activities of the Council on Competitiveness-Nippon (COCN) to realize AI spaces that enable secure data and AI collaboration across different companies, aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of Japanese industry through agentic AI.Fujitsu will continue to advance demonstration and technological enhancement with Science Tokyo and Rohto Pharmaceutical, aiming for expansion into diverse industries, including manufacturing. Fujitsu will also develop technology for broader and more complex supply chains, targeting provision through its Uvance business model’s Dynamic Supply Chain services by the end of fiscal 2026. This will bring a new perspective to corporate supply chain strategies, enhancing resilience, and enabling sustainable business operations.Under its Uvance business model, Fujitsu will leverage the technology developed in these trials to realize secure data collaboration through AI agent cooperation across borders and industries. This will drive resilient supply chains and sustainable industrial growth, ensuring reliability and governance in multi-vendor environments.Katsuki Fujisawa, Professor, Digital Twin Research Unit, Institute of Integrated Research, and Department of Mathematical and Computing Science, School of Computing, Science Tokyo, comments:“Science Tokyo is actively promoting Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) research and working to improve efficiency across the entire industrial value chain. Moving forward, by collaborating with Fujitsu's agentic AI technology to optimize the entire supply chain, we aim to contribute to the advancement of industry and the resolution of societal challenges.”Technology for multi-AI agent collaborationFigure 1: Multi-AI agent collaboration The new technology features two key components:1. Global optimal control for AI agents under incomplete information- Enables effective collaboration between AI agents from different companies without the need for disclosure of sensitive data, which is typically required for inter-company AI agent coordination- A proposing AI agent approximates characteristics of other agents through suggestion and answer exchanges (negotiation-based approach developed by Fujitsu); based on these approximations, the proposing agent identifies the optimal overall state for the entire supply chain2. Fujitsu secure inter-agent gateway- Gateway built upon distributed AI learning technology and AI agent communication guardrail technology that enables seamless and secure collaboration among AI agents from different companies and vendors, while protecting confidential and private corporate information.- During setup, the technology allows AI agents to learn supply chain characteristics and optimize their operations without direct sharing of sensitive data by leveraging knowledge distillation, a technique in deep learning to transfer knowledge from a “teacher model” to a “student model.” In our approach, knowledge is drawn from multiple teacher models, and pairing is dynamically determined based on past performance and reliability- In operation, this technology, based on Fujitsu’s LLM guardrail expertise, detects malicious queries and prevents the inference of confidential information; it secures communication by repeatedly simulating AI agent behavior and responses, updating and providing information in a safe, non-inferable format Figure 2: Outline of the new technology About the field trialsCombining Science Tokyo’s AI agent technology with its own multi-AI agent collaboration technology, Fujitsu, in collaboration with Rohto Pharmaceutical, conducted initial field trials on a virtual supply chain to optimize logistics routes and schedules, confirming a potential reduction of up to 30% in transportation costs. From January 2026 to March 2027, Fujitsu will conduct more practical and large-scale trials, simulating real-world conditions using Rohto Pharmaceutical's supply chain.Fujitsu’s Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015 represent a set of common goals to be achieved worldwide by 2030.Fujitsu’s purpose - "to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation" - is a promise to contribute to the vision of a better future empowered by the SDGs.About FujitsuFujitsu’s purpose is to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation.
